Metallica are an American heavy metal band, formed in 1981 in Los Angeles USA. Metallica’s current long term band members are Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett (joined in 1983) and Robert Trujillo (joined in 2003). Lars and James are 2 of the original founders of the band.

Hailed as one of the leading bands to invent thrash metal it wasn’t until their 5th album “The Black Album” that they began to achieve commercial success, although much critical acclaim had been given for their first 4 albums in the underground scene.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, they have sold well over 100 million albums worldwide, won numerous grammys and other music industry awards.
