An English singer-songwriter and musician, John William “Paul” Weller Jr (born 1958) first achieved success in the punk rock band The Jam. Although Weller’s success appeared mostly national, he was described as "one of the most revered music writers and performers of the past 30 years" by the BBC in 2007.
Reinvented as ‘the godfather of Cool Britannia’ in the 1990s (a title to which he made no claim), Weller won two Best British Male Brit Awards and received an Outstanding Contribution to Music Award in 2006.
